TIDAL is a subscription-based music streaming service that combines lossless audio and high definition music videos with curated editorial. The service has over 25 million tracks and 75,000 music videos. TIDAL was launched in 2014 by the Swedish/Norwegian public company Aspiro which was early in 2015 acquired by Project Panther Ltd., a company owned by Shawn “Jay Z” Carter.
Almir was responsible for development and deployment of a Windows desktop application for TIDAL. The application was developed in C++ with the cross platform framework, Chromium Embedded Framework(CEF), together with the native Windows API (also known as Win32). Advanced Installer and Bamboo (Atlassian) were used for deployment and continuous integration.
TIDAL currently operates in 31 countries and in March 2016, the service announced it has over 3 million subscribers. Of those 3 million subscribers, 1.35 million are paying for Tidal’s $19.99 Hi-Fi offering, according to Billboard. For more information, check out tidal.com.
